GKR Karate – Westpoint Blacktown

Project Description

Velcon Group was engaged by GKR Karate to deliver a complete turnkey fit out for its new dojo at Westpoint Blacktown, supporting the client’s expansion into the Western Sydney market. The project involved transforming a concrete shell into a fully operational karate dojo in less than six weeks, with Velcon Group managing the coordination, construction, and delivery of the fit out from start to finish.

Working within an active retail centre environment, Velcon Group worked closely with the centre’s incumbent mechanical and fire contractors, along with our trusted trade partners, to ensure the works were delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with centre requirements. A key component of the project was the construction of an elevated, DDA-compliant amenities block at the rear of the tenancy. This approach helped reduce the need for excessive core hole works while still achieving a practical and compliant outcome for the client.

The finished space included custom joinery, a complete blackout paint package, and RGB red LED strip lighting to the exterior of the tenancy, creating a strong visual identity consistent with the GKR Karate brand. Velcon Group worked collaboratively with GKR Karate to design, coordinate, and deliver a high-quality training facility that was functional, compliant, and ready for use within a tight programme.
